Pets Make Life Better
Since COVID 19 Homeward Bound Animal Shelter has implemented new policies for the protection of our animals, volunteers, staff and visitors. Safety is our top concern for all involved. While many of the mask and social distancing mandates have relaxed, we continue to follow the standards set by the State of Michigan Health and Welfare Dept. Please wear a mask while visiting the shelter and maintain social distancing guidelines. If you are not feeling well, please do not visit the shelter.
On positive note, during the COVID pandemic lockdown the shelter staff and volunteers noticed by limiting the number of people visiting the animals at a given time, the animals were less stressed, more relaxed and playful. Our visitors and potential adopters also enjoyed having a more one on one visit. Therefore, the decision was made for the welfare of the animals, the shelter would continue to follow some of the protocols put in place during the pandemic.
Change - Limiting the number of visitors in a cat room to five. Also, limiting the number of individuals in big groups unless prearranged with the shelter manager.
Change - Visitors can no longer walk through the dog kennel area unless accompanied by a staff member. Dogs will be brought out to meet visitors.
Change - All adoptions, volunteering, intakes and visitors are asked to make an appointment. Appointments will take precedence over drop ins. If you are interested in adopting a pet, please call us to set up an appointment to visit the shelter.
Animal intakes are by appointment only. If you have any questions, please call us and we will be happy to help you. Stay safe, Stay healthy and Stay strong!
